These past few days I have been carrying my little girl on my hip all day long...and when she does sleep I quickly dash to do a bit of housework. Here is my current dilemma: 'baby on hip' + housework = no craft time. And man, that is just wrong!! Now I'm thinking more along the lines of, 'baby in jolly jumper attached to my sewing room door' = craft time. It sounds like a match made in heaven. I'm just wondering though, will it cure her miseration? I play with her, sing songs to her, she lies and plays on her play mat under the mobile, and she has tummy time...but really, none of these last very long. She's happiest in her mommy's arms. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So what are your thoughts on a jolly jumper? Do you think they're a good idea? Have you ever had one, and did your baby love it? Or do you think my little girl just needs a lot of cuddles at the moment and everything else should take a back seat for now? </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Cheers</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Raewyn</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">PS: I've just googled images of babies in their jolly jumpers, and those babies all look really happy - hee hee!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Just peeking in to say hi. Thanks so much for sticking around. When I post this, I am actually expecting to receive an automated message from Blogger saying "Sorry, you have lost ALL your followers due to not blogging for over a year". I can't believe it been more than a year since my last blog. So much has happened.... We built and moved into a new house (with my own sewing/craft room, might I add).We were blessed with another sweet little girl, Kirsten on the 7th of December. And my big little girl started Prep this year.<br />
I had stopped blogging and selling because I wasn't entirely sure of which direction I wanted to go with regards to sewing and crafting. I am feeling so happy now about what I'm doing at the moment. I've been fiddling around with felt and I've also been making felt and fabric hairclips and headbands, which I am really enjoying!<br />

I've had the idea in my head for ages, so I'm so glad I finally made it. I'll be making a few more in smaller sizes. I seem to be in a bit of a slump lately, not knowing what I really want to be making to sell. We have a cardboard box that we put all of our recycling into before throwing into the big bin, and I keep all my odds and ends neatly packed on the table next to the recycling box. I could scream....I'm going to scream.....wait for it.......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Okay, I suppose it's not too bad. Nobody died, it's only embroidery floss. I'll just have to go to Spotlight tomorrow and buy some more. Makes me wonder what else I've lost thanks to the recycling box.<div>Hope you are all having a wonderful week. So happy the rain has stopped so we could start building our house. Yippeeee! </div><div>Cheers, Raewyn</div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-4585141575664094222010-03-07T20:40:00.000-08:002010-03-07T21:40:53.514-08:00Quick box corner fix-up<div style="text-align: center;">Don't you just hate it when a box's lid breaks in the corners? I HATE it! It can be a sentimental box or even just a puzzle or games box.</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Well, here's my quick box corner fix up...</div><div><br /><div><div>I love this box. A friend gave me a set of two and I just LOVE them! I keep lots of crafty odds and ends in here, but this lid has really been grating me lately.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNKl1YK1CZYRoXl-fYIfzwQkfnQ4MIypoGw-NOMv4OB5Ssc0Vt8Mgqsws4hTTJ5kjL4NRJNnytDgGjinLCCpjM9lsQAFC6ghCUcZOAbP9O2P4ByUJldvuaAsMt2qZYo0Oy_Ody7QdS_D9u/s400/DSC06117.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">So...I grabbed some glue, a small piece of twill tape (you can use anything really) and a button..</div><div style="text-align: center;">....And voila...my box lid corner is fixed. I love it!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtgkaHUJptOSMjmdixN1QRAnnKOVCfdB_KjiVNMojyVqdjOnkgY_8dAYgkqkPGLo2jeevZqEeAdoyqda6Vw_BmCaWnic1cTKmGCDpA6OuGS2ESpEKGs4z5o6rwmLekYEOvVIuwWsAoNvEJ/s400/DSC06119.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Yay!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYM-mRaFdUfH1aKe1VNOzBpyRvDwM8Pz92Z5rSfzPY2EwCpDWV-ab0fpmbZBZB3myXTpf-0UtFrlIhOtqNwY8RTU9t3QMSP-DGqlc30i9T2RVXMRdnVTzBS_5naQsYt1YlzL7PNh7aRRaE/s400/DSC06120.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The button goes nicely on this box but you could add a little fabric flower or whatever will go with your box.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Cheers, hope you all have a super week!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Raewyn</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div></div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-15846406384529591072010-02-18T22:50:00.000-08:002010-03-02T01:29:22.674-08:00How to make a fabric flower/brooch Tutorial<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8DY_PHIdYVZg_CSpXa0NO4gKUrtUImTBTI3JqRfEyhz2Q-K9DltJTgYoIkL59TcOsa-kSpjwjcoZ7vbTAKJ-UEbaXGGJqMYnj_ZFMSXmEMxqwqiPIvaz8gnxgFUhHXao9bIXja_vceEn/s1600-h/DSC06093.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8DY_PHIdYVZg_CSpXa0NO4gKUrtUImTBTI3JqRfEyhz2Q-K9DltJTgYoIkL59TcOsa-kSpjwjcoZ7vbTAKJ-UEbaXGGJqMYnj_ZFMSXmEMxqwqiPIvaz8gnxgFUhHXao9bIXja_vceEn/s400/DSC06093.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439868125928363314" /></a><br />Somebody on the ilovestitches fb page asked me how to make these fabric flowers. How nice...I don't really have people asking me how to make stuff, so I'm rather chuffed to be able to be of some use. Here it is:<div style="text-align: center;">What you'll need:</div><div style="text-align: center;">felt,</div><div style="text-align: center;">scraps of fabric,</div><div style="text-align: center;">button,</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">a needle and thread,</div><div style="text-align: center;">and a glue gun</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK03lj-i9UgPRN1vfIKy2G4XD-9P9qAdDmHo6YDgTNuomRUjnRst6T_CN11QUpnmo5X5pgcf7lwYIy6XjUc91zIN122b7puR39BlYYsZO8TZNt5oLnLU5tROWLi6aTAeSNdl8df-K4SI3w/s400/DSC06076.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">1. Cut a strip of fabric (mine is about 3cm x 60cm, but you can make it whatever length or width you like) I've done a straight one and a scalloped one, just so you can see.</div><div style="text-align: center;">2. Cut two felt circles (one big, one small)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPnDEXKG8lf6Lv0JO5I9TYnP9bo2W_aKrf35LvpvYW79JJVqiIv0nXHswWCj62YgyzJUec5Odo3F06KuCnsYKcGCjyqPG5NBuoFyYmg09paQAAPjGFcrHMnrKKyddP9nNr8TTKU1uEZl8Y/s400/DSC06084.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">3. Do a rough stitch all the way across the length of the fabric. The stitches don't have to be even or the same length or anything. Make sure you've secured the thread at the start of your stitching, by knotting the thread or just stitching over the first stitch a few times. Stitch all the way to the end of your strip of fabric.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiewPLheZT6GCcmTozPxXcv5B0wVKoyypM7btpw_e3nD_1SeWbypAs4HV2t2m1Nuvan_Lv2TVSZyFAIhdo9xeb4v-KxB2M98g06VnncEddhdAQ2H5fp3WkWZYxDQkBaPpsgcrYGom6_iMwm/s400/DSC06085.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">4. Pull the thread until you can't put it anymore, just don't break it - that'll amount to some major frustration.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf8s4BGy-n8JyOlXWL7GbXiaMso4t8hUM_nuWajoWkrIuopkgyZxuHoK81Oq1QVR4dT3F2N-H_AvSa4VBUpOZ4ULhXvR1CQbyqiQFYgKZDJdkTcO-xcgRl2oIL6NKfj0s8PVEMWYdiNxrQ/s400/DSC06087.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">5. Once you've done that...on the wrong side of the fabric, thread the needle through anywhere (have a look above) and do a few stitches to secure the thread and make sure it won't come loose - because again...it could lead to frustration if that happens. (I can get so frustrated with stuff that I'll end up giving up on the project I'm busy with)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQdYy0NRZ1-owOCX_1v8sLqDkKNDH_WSNfsmT-xFFqXOkN6VNFTWlOnX1Mnki2LLZXMmOvRqpIfEfiseCD4Byws4ctWwESpcY3TwpFJyxPpbAe1ay4YCP7nop3Pn1LHXA_xJZpbFfNJGso/s400/DSC06089.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">6. Stitch your fabric like above, to join the ends.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsP2_hVLXGuzFhdgW6T_XJiWKMB6NXSet7h_rm_Sd_GecV5EYFjEK__G4zULc9ywptr0-WTPhRRaaoDgXl_iuxejMp7qR7yI-OEIzqDNJSbKEW52fEpsMgsZ4DyZPfwhfPEgib0nEmFVGY/s400/DSC06090.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Putting it together:</div><div style="text-align: center;">Stitch your button onto the small circle, </div><div style="text-align: center;">glue the fabric flower onto the larger circle,</div><div style="text-align: center;">and then glue the small circle onto the fabric flower....</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8DY_PHIdYVZg_CSpXa0NO4gKUrtUImTBTI3JqRfEyhz2Q-K9DltJTgYoIkL59TcOsa-kSpjwjcoZ7vbTAKJ-UEbaXGGJqMYnj_ZFMSXmEMxqwqiPIvaz8gnxgFUhHXao9bIXja_vceEn/s400/DSC06093.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">And....voila....a fabric flower!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Add a brooch pin to the back to make a brooch if you like, or attach it to a headband, or a bag. You could make some smaller ones and make little hair clips.</div><div style="text-align: center;">This should only take you about 10 minutes tops to make, if you don't get interrupted. And if you don't have a glue gun, go buy one. It's a great investment, you use it for so much (I think they only cost about $4 at the cheappy store)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVpwTM5lXF74MmXtjrHfEXBCpmDmuFYW7DWveSLDSITgj9YGSBuXlzLhzGUdii0_57xq9D1vPVIPxuFecNdDXxjJIJErkFZU1RqxRgoGhhDndklLnkCLrrOTMWZdC0I6QaifJR8O2H3xen/s400/DSC06103.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here's my ill little girl with the one on her headband. Mmmm....The pic does look a bit odd doesn't it? That's because I told her to put her head at an angle so I could balance the fabric flower on the headband so I could get a shot of it. I didn't glue it down because she wanted another one I had made on there.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">So that's that then. I might even have enough to make another 2. I'm selling them for $11 each and each bag comes with a fabric and felt flower brooch - FREE! - all part of my plight to make homemade more affordable, which I do admit is rather difficult considering the amount of time put into making it. The bag is about 21.5cm wide and long. And the strap is about 40cm from the top of the bag to the shoulder. The inside of the bag is white.<div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhznB8CPQ867d7lqylmr7_7PaOVQqMf97m5w23j7GIfIONZ1hZu2S4NIbSFE7S9yqOf5bl3ejBCAbwHJjmf5KprYLiR6_-RsChnATNn6pkw1WLGleV6J5bxELVy6UmGlWuBSlyLZ1Ocrfir/s320/DSC06017.JPG" /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><u><br /></u></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjYinP0hJD8YWEXiXoUeQxZQNIdAu0USDNtJnx7mxa5nTe0nH-IChnYzBJ8Vs53v3OZ8ODxq9A9cwwnsh85VH41Bd8A2xDt6c80jqw5ym5jAk4WXK97wJJJVsWUUMj2Av96qUrhA4hAixG/s320/DSC06019.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The fabric flower looks lovely attached to the strap of bag!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivkwHJCs_Ls7NzH5Uhv_GGhIrmBhJgFyWAAFWHrMFNfBgMfVhwYRdgYXKu6hSaopJl-28JBcG1ZwtkY0DXzfLxmKkSksQXeSwHs6kVU5PWsitoul2cPD4_O7FiovYdJtLvMUQCliurbW6K/s320/DSC06018.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Like it? I've decided to reduce my prices on everything in my shop. I seem to only sell a few things and then it goes really quiet. So I thought I would rather reduce my prices...sell....and keep busy, than just sell the odd thing here and there. Have you noticed how pricey some of these homemade things are on madeit and etsy? And yes..I know it is HANDMADE but still.... it should be affordable. I've decided I'm going to try do a bit of bargain hunting on madeit. Maybe it'll be a "under $20" thing or something like that. I'll start that this week some time.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div>In the meantime.........here are my latest cards!</div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsItfsHOyIhoMWF0rYjcOuOb0i_PZXt_XoO6uo8wzdkfHTHVy_76kgdZxZBfV-FLK5tJ7oc6CTI3qUIGMI325m66sDsoQZsYpvbMq3fylZ6U04XoegwQyk8m-qEqnlQKKUBkMNi_o8rDRX/s320/DSC06005.JPG" /></div></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNLX39VObVHAvALrm-K0tdyvSQmh0Q4bIqkIjMw7EFuMhwKrHjFJ0u1y8hKtjEFq7BnmoUyvWIpod-MnyIsIGP3sIIfJBPU8IlgAQgAEO6t5dcsFfLFaFutY9wJS2hyphenhyphenXLvRutRxteWb72y/s1600-h/DSC06003.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNLX39VObVHAvALrm-K0tdyvSQmh0Q4bIqkIjMw7EFuMhwKrHjFJ0u1y8hKtjEFq7BnmoUyvWIpod-MnyIsIGP3sIIfJBPU8IlgAQgAEO6t5dcsFfLFaFutY9wJS2hyphenhyphenXLvRutRxteWb72y/s320/DSC06003.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434236822996564546" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnsmAeNIhe9RcFC3QrYvrJIC7ydf0uUTKKMB4AhIQcXwSdpVyGWG-wyVADrJqJw-R7IA_61LpNyPDPV17vaQFS3k9wPanypyLFkPI7wKN4oKhEO81WiHyzXe027UH8bsyIULstVuMRRGKi/s1600-h/DSC05999.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnsmAeNIhe9RcFC3QrYvrJIC7ydf0uUTKKMB4AhIQcXwSdpVyGWG-wyVADrJqJw-R7IA_61LpNyPDPV17vaQFS3k9wPanypyLFkPI7wKN4oKhEO81WiHyzXe027UH8bsyIULstVuMRRGKi/s320/DSC05999.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434236817426643618" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2pKGC7F2hySBi_W3zSJjaYs0tbNYpWNa4_RvKazobr8A9K4_ztOFM8KOTUPy1zKBnoZgt02Yxc_-qjcFc8TBQ5p4qcw1KtVMavOiAWsyWCzh10nz4d05G_QzkYqprp5weJ1EUQ9WaKdg/s1600-h/DSC06013.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_2pKGC7F2hySBi_W3zSJjaYs0tbNYpWNa4_RvKazobr8A9K4_ztOFM8KOTUPy1zKBnoZgt02Yxc_-qjcFc8TBQ5p4qcw1KtVMavOiAWsyWCzh10nz4d05G_QzkYqprp5weJ1EUQ9WaKdg/s320/DSC06013.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434236803790116482" /></a><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrmwd7ES2fCU7DA8hS0t0id7y8tsULY8dMR02rBBbnzUGBQI5QeI1eSYYvLcw7utMlPWPusP9wkPLUc7P-g1OhfnZ2W_jvTeK0fBObYfJFt1Oav_J4BTZChhNmleeYpGlGDpDpgNW2007N/s320/DSC05965.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">These are all in my shop now....for $4.50 each.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#993399;"><a href="http://www.madeit.com.au/storecatalog.asp?userid=5560">Take a look!</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Hope you're all having a fab week!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Raewyn</div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-84248121348737381142010-01-21T00:40:00.000-08:002010-01-21T00:46:57.527-08:00A bag for my darling sister...<div style="text-align: center;">Here's a bag I made for my sister for her birthday. I bought some upholstery fabric to make a bag for my sister, a few notions (quite a few), some wool felt and my most favourite buy...these 2 stamps. I've never done stamping before, but when I saw these stamps, I thought it's about time I did! She is so fussy when it comes to what she'll wear. She hardly ever wears a pair of jeans..because as she says, "It's not beautiful!". I've tried to persuade her by telling her we can make it look beautiful with a pretty top, but she never falls for it. I wonder where she gets it from. Definitely not from me, I'm such a sloppy dresser, although I am improving. Now I'm only sloppy at home and I actually dress decently to go to the shops. I even put make-up on. Back to my fussy daughter.... I remember when she was about 18 months old, she would scream the house down when I dressed her in what I wanted her to wear. I would have to lift her up so she could see what was hanging there and then she would choose what to wear! I am learning now that if something has flowers or butterflies or sparkles on it.. it is most likely classified as beautiful. She says the skirt I made for her is beautiful!....aaaaahhh....at last... a breakthrough for me!</div><div><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKFgF0tEGKGbx0S0icC4EwTwWZ-jBBuU79cyXzyf1YSbR8xTKmJ3SY6ma5CTnImdQJ43ZnKYRaCB8oY29D0SKmzWoEhkUA2i2VIIig5r4d3zGCpQxm2VJCU0Z-roYUVphfzwLlbF9y3rsM/s320/skirt.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>In other news... I have sold 3 of my fabric cards. I am unbelievably happy! I have listed a few more in my madeit shop. I'm hoping I can actually get somewhere with selling this year and selling these 3 cards has given me great motivation to carry on doing what I'm doing!</div><div><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB-_Za_HXsFJVTrUId8mD3hGzFjfmAwnY7mnwqvcjqm64ZIZ84HlZ7AeDAD043_31Ki19tgP1zMZF93roKnHtujH7M6V-_DaBEg_IDBJibA-ZwxLtLbjHy-WcN4Cab-oXiHkTR00xQGRmB/s320/DSC05818.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv4hD5P0w-GHqIquz0H7abTGfAP_YFoYu_58PzTbcfBH-fyETqJfzYt-H-WlvcnR_Zsd9Wq_I27w0K-Wu66G5O3suEpvtk8JGD60HX8A3wOhRxZey1SQl3yGi5v8vd0lRpF-D7M9nLA34v/s320/DSC05869.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#663366;"><a href="http://www.madeit.com.au/storecatalog.asp?userid=5560"><b>Take a look!</b></a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#663366;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#663333;"><b>Hope you all have a super day!</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#663333;"><b>xox</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-17730078985941550202009-12-16T15:48:00.000-08:002009-12-16T16:30:50.439-08:00Worst Raffle Prize Ever!<div style="text-align: center;">It was my son's school concert and barbeque the other day. We had a great time and all the kids (all 46 of them) performed so well. What made it even better is that I won 2 raffle prizes and I had only bought 3 tickets. One was a "Camp Rock" stationary set and the other was a "Mighty Mender"...a little mending sewing machine. I was so excited to get home so I could open my mighty mending prize, and I was thinking it would make a great beginners sewing machine for my kids. Anyway.... so we open the thing and you won't believe it... but ALL of the accessories are missing, the whole lot... the attachment to put your thread on...and...there isn't even a bloomin' bobbin case... NOTHING! I mean, how do you sew without a freakin' bobbin? Obviously some bright spark mother thought it would be a good way to get rid of her junk, so she freely offered it as a raffle donation. </div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwvBMHXocRH1RakMqrCkaudRpIwyMvIrErZDS8fzdGKOo85z1hUyxShnl7-hrWN7bM1mwSNtWFWb5-0lYhq3_6r2xZbU0ZZf1Y1z-wyNPjB4MdUdr67Fr1G11AR02ZvwW6dE1cYF_R7zPR/s400/DSC05693.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i> the machine is question</i></div><div>Come 27 January.... I shall be taking the not-so-mighty mender back to the school.. I'm going to plonk it down at the school steps and leave a big note saying.."Please take back your junk!" No... I probably won't.. I never have the guts to do these things! Maybe that can be one of my "New Years" lifestyle changes....BE MORE FIRM!</div><div>So I thought I'd ask...what very ridiculous or crazy thing have you received as a gift or a prize?</div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-41374732292517316232009-12-01T01:09:00.000-08:002009-12-01T01:38:43.427-08:00I feel like I've just come out of a battlefield...<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;">A friend and myself have organised a baby shower for another "about to pop" friend.. and on this fine Tuesday, I decided that I wanted to do something special for her, and so had the idea to make her a nappy bag. I have come to realise that I am a bit of a last minute person and always think I can get the job done, no matter how big. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way and a lot of the time I fail hopelessly! I feel like I've been on a battlefield today... I can hardly remember today. I have pin pricks all over my fingers and there are millions of tiny bits of cotton lying all over the floor from doing loads and loads of unpicking! I even paid my 6 year old son $5 to clean the house - desperation if ever there was! Anyway.. I can proudly say that I have finished the nappy bag and after the war with it today.. it actually turned out alright. Hooray!</span></span></div><div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> <img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq1rqocXDmkDlVD4DYVJQhMioK31zuCWsateWRedirpfntc87H1lroa9qqm4898Jzo0f8ObCH7RoXXvHIhr83p9AYGuXob-bq9_zOWstUKKwVNMWPV-C_Xigchodr8WP5Ag4C0cIjsPUlD/s400/DSC05662.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;">The nappy bag</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: georgia; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;">Anyway..I'm off to have a long bath now, to rid my mind of pins and cotton and wrongly cut fabric and elastic that didn't want to work with me etc etc etc......</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;">Goodnight!</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#339999;">xox</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-52815351425301190462009-11-24T01:38:00.000-08:002009-12-15T22:44:41.331-08:00A blog I like....My very good friend, Kim, has just started a blog. I hope somebody out there thinks it's nice and might actually try it! I've made quite a few of these cushions and they really do make a great gift or keepsake!</div><div><div>Here goes....</div><div>Yesterday I was browsing in an op shop and found a few checked shirts that are great for making cushions. The best part about using a shirt is that if you use the buttoned part of the shirt for the cushion backing... then you don't have the mission of making the back close properly or neatly because it's already done for you!</div><div><br /></div><div>1. Get yourself a shirt and chop it the width you want your cushion to be. Don't forget to leave some seam allowance, a 1cm will do!</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-BfuwhyPhxnhxeeFzETABbwfdQxqRJn93bEqH5qEGKmAQnocFKQsbTjMIuqGCtV8em2D9Jb9trNUCrfc2hffRN1TXxhg7YI8OyT_W2Js-irpE5d1ePIMqDjuwPQF4aQ_SzEnsj-w6ebuh/s320/20091028(076).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">It should look like this now...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZtWFC1A34DisfVORz7fPO3AcxteXP9mLmEo2YstUtFw48movqJDGyafI8O93mt2DaTucHpzJ1u-JYXCluPxEdiFk7x5lX9Rfa0ufR9QnNq9vqhoG1yuKXzv1n573hfGI-MdeXm3-cUl7_/s320/20091028(077).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">2. Cut yourself 2 rectangles from the shirt. They need to be the same width as the backing.... and then cut yourself a big rectangle of plain cotton fabric to applique on. (mine's very creased, I know!)</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJgX2hxdRs1LHak_QiZjW-KfiUt3BYhX7oYJHcka3J1Fn0IlZRMottUPlmO7dx0idp8pr1YWj06ww6d7wdQ9ImXsaKRyvIR8Mq67Ur04cxUMVJNP2GH2teLqLhnh7jjASzo11fLeWNwYI6/s320/20091028(080).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I'm not giving measurements because you should just make it the size you want. It's rather eezy peezy once you've got the rectangle backing... Just measure off that. As long as you have your 1cm seam allowance, you should be fine!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">3. Sew the the 3 rectangles to make up the front of the cushion. If you don't think the front and back of your cushion are the same size, just lie them right sides facing each other and trim where it needs to be trimmed.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZcJc27hKBuvAQpXfKtabE1WHFasRjjVefZmzb2VYTpWez2FA56sXcHPVovZrzM0UIWGhafSBXCZOyTBjUKjc2-rUIPLB180lF1PEBInBODTpaLJt113-MnTZTPGpQHqe6F3RpEyh3kJg7/s320/20091028(085).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: left; ">4. I've done some applique on my cushion using felt and embroidery floss and embroidered a few stars onto it and added a few buttons.... There is so much you can do... Below are other examples of what you could do on your cushion!</div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr2I-uuTfRpQDMqmMbtUb6IRHow9hjSY7cx1CkVKIH08dgZtmxJOlM0FqGiMhSswVjWiknbR7_N-2OCFh5P01J2y-GMZoHwEp25b3amrW3WzYWOdmqfKXOhqr4tnONUJASNRHliAaLKXoH/s320/20091029(001).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">5. Pin the back and front of cushion right sides facing each other, buttons must be facing in ..... then sew around the cushion, using a 1cm seam allowance. Turn it the right way round and there you have it! I've sewn a topstitch around the whole cushion (0.5cm from the edge) ... it just looks nice but it's not necessary!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCfAw_FSlBAlVqAfVVhAG44W1uTZPtjK1R8VpdrLBnvJOQpLE0JnHzPnnYdZ8w4k95hlxvydO_v6ehYZPCZ-ebegJO3f54z983cBfMJUcIcyOC_mS8xkjNunprx3R8CSEx-lCjCIkhGier/s320/20091029(003).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFlw_u0sluNKEjaIElyhcCuHUP9yzVCRzgHGQp4V-hcQTfmClbxcKycD6KEkNS7hGQAwhucZXPsY6OwEjcRganLEqE8XBTJm_7UWe802zv5UwQ6y69to_Dp6SkMJ3ahf2XDjSrXRZfojyX/s320/20091029(004).jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Here are another 2 ideas for cushions.....</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh39NaLu06zXpqBtTrR-zCpVA_613aeyV7flNG_hTazs4WqS3yoD9AQYQVO874S-WEi0EPmoB_RYHUE1hBk1EuDQ8akOIpu0Dipybg1HqeXkKEsy5p3cek3p5JUxP01lGBQ1sd1uAT75K52/s320/DSC05495.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I made this cushion for my son by using one of his 'favourite but too small' t's for the middle panel of the cushion. You could use a part of a dress, blankie... whatever. It makes a super keepsake!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9hneZzQL8SpYLURFX3yoOUkmRbO6rVpFITpjlPGE-ZfRc7MPJN-oqcu4k-C8l6m8ebMEqirZLdvdmON4NDtHMFvoYcN3EXLlf6P9fsav3TZN41Kf6Ai3KDI8KAlhgdndm5Oseu-Gtsdqb/s320/DSC05494.JPG" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Another idea is embroidering a picture your child has drawn like I have done here. If you don't know how to embroider but want to learn,<a href="http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/10/embroidery-stitch-video-tutorial-chain.html"> here</a> is a great site!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Soooo... that's that then! I made the same gift for both ladies, but with different appliques on them. One with fish and the other with a bird on it. I took photos of the fish one but forgot to take of the bird one. They turned out really well, and everyone thought the gifts were really nice, so I'll definitely be making some to put in my madeit shop. I'm thinking of doing a tute on them as well.. maybe some time next week! Really enjoying my sewing these days... just a pain that I don't have my own room/space to sew in. Can't wait for our house to be built, so I can have a room of my own and don't have to clean up the dining room table for meal times!<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835494162348817486.post-75598774624913854602009-10-14T23:55:00.000-07:002009-10-15T00:17:26.571-07:00Oh the joys of parenthood!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY9YR2wtjluOO_k21jxsp-VfgSMM4FydD7J4v6WcCfb0WlUQssGrqTwiatK7CeCmM4DE6ogAeKLcaoCYCtMtXesFGtwTlCAj9wIhDVw7Wn4v99PZJ4_3RjMQjyC5LYRBeLhJqX84vLBKt_/s1600-h/DSC05199.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY9YR2wtjluOO_k21jxsp-VfgSMM4FydD7J4v6WcCfb0WlUQssGrqTwiatK7CeCmM4DE6ogAeKLcaoCYCtMtXesFGtwTlCAj9wIhDVw7Wn4v99PZJ4_3RjMQjyC5LYRBeLhJqX84vLBKt_/s320/DSC05199.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392722438657099298" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDIdT_sHpj_Y0mhIUPYUno5CK5KUTQq4lSIqSmtqctN3Zm6bMZpNGYrnexeKUX6b71AUVmPgJa12364CO6LmJQbn7ITQg8UhHhkxwejvsN8ICx6gz0avqJJ5Jo5ORZG57qtKJ1brekhQsx/s1600-h/DSC05196.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDIdT_sHpj_Y0mhIUPYUno5CK5KUTQq4lSIqSmtqctN3Zm6bMZpNGYrnexeKUX6b71AUVmPgJa12364CO6LmJQbn7ITQg8UhHhkxwejvsN8ICx6gz0avqJJ5Jo5ORZG57qtKJ1brekhQsx/s320/DSC05196.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392722304117862130" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9xUleSok4BjvPTDhWVr6jYIJSUbF4Ch0dzmmNtKj9SoOgpCgzgWoxtXklVAJUE2fdE4k95NWW9lLIycrikQPe1GtrBkurWgnKp0k8dGu2fY-4B1uJIUyaFQJduSSgKCWU7GzL3cSGvgVs/s1600-h/DSC05206.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9xUleSok4BjvPTDhWVr6jYIJSUbF4Ch0dzmmNtKj9SoOgpCgzgWoxtXklVAJUE2fdE4k95NWW9lLIycrikQPe1GtrBkurWgnKp0k8dGu2fY-4B1uJIUyaFQJduSSgKCWU7GzL3cSGvgVs/s320/DSC05206.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392722014446507378" /></a><br /><br />Still nothing to show on my little blog... <div><br /><div>Both of my kids decided that it would be a great time to get sick! I look at so many blogs and think to myself, "hey, I want to do that"! And so here I am.. blogging!! </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'courier new';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">So.. the reason I'm doing this blog is actually to try and kick start my little home business called ilovestitches. I'm just starting out and have a shop @ <a href="http://www.madeit.com.au/ilovestitches">www.madeit.com.au/ilovestitches</a>. I originally started out doing machine embroidery about 2 years ago, but my embroidery machine got damaged on our move from South Africa to Australia...which is a long, sad story that I will bore you with one day when I have nothing else to write here, and so the machine is now sitting at the techinician - unfixable! Amazingly, there is some good that has come out of it, that being, I have started doing much more sewing and I'm even doing some hand embroidery (beginner phase). And now my brain is in a mush because of all the ideas swarming around in this little head of mine!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">I better get to work, so I can actually have something to put on this blog!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';">Raewyn</span></div><div><br /></div></div>Raewynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13274416157170849734noreply@blogger.com3
